These studies were the result of collaboration with the Port of Portland and specialised consultancy RPS Group respectively and received input from over 20 local businesses. Amongst other findings, they show that the Spinifex project can generate over 1700 jobs during construction and contribute up to $40 million per year of operation to the Portland regional economy.
Last week the Spinifex team presented on the outcomes of these studies to local businesses, local education providers and representative from a range of other community representatives and organisations.
Led by Linden Blair, Project Development Manager, the presentation received great engagement from attendees, who provided positive open discussion throughout the night.
“During our initial community engagement in 2022 we identified a strong appetite for local jobs and economic development. So, we listened to the community and commissioned these two studies to understand how the Portland economy can best benefit from the Spinifex project and the larger offshore wind industry.”
